Sustainability

For a Greener Tomorrow

Real, daily work done by real people on the island — garden care by Naign, and waste sorting at every villa by Thura and Nye. This is what sustainability looks like when it actually happens.

The people behind it

Our Sustainability Team

Sustainability on Samui is not a brochure promise — it is daily, physical work done by real people. Two parts of our team carry most of it: garden care, and waste sorting at every villa we manage.

Garden & landscape

Naign — our gardener

Naign looks after the gardens at the villas we manage. That means weekly mowing and trimming, replanting tropical species that suit Samui's wet and dry seasons, hand-watering newly planted beds, and keeping coconut palms safe (regular trimming so falling nuts never reach a guest path or a parked car).

We choose drought-tolerant species where possible, mulch beds to cut water use, and compost most of the green waste on-site rather than sending it to the municipal stream. A healthy garden is the first thing every arriving guest sees — and the cheapest, greenest amenity a villa can offer.

Waste & recycling

Thura & Nye — waste collection and sorting

Thura and Nye handle the part most villa managers ignore: actually sorting villa waste before it leaves the property. Samui does not have a working kerbside recycling system, so if it is not separated at the villa, it does not get recycled at all.

At each villa they collect and split waste into plastics, glass, aluminium, paper/cardboard, food and green waste, and residual. Recyclables go to local buyers in Bo Phut and Maenam; food and green waste is composted with garden cuttings where the villa has space, or routed to local pig farmers who collect it. Residual is the only stream that goes to the municipal truck — and we measure how thin we can keep it.

Want this level of care at your own villa? Garden maintenance and waste handling are part of our property management programme — and available as standalone services for owners who self-manage.

Wider initiatives

What Else We're Doing

Energy Efficiency

Where owners are willing, we specify solar hot water, inverter air-conditioning, LED lighting and efficient pool pumps. Smart plugs on water heaters and dehumidifiers cut standby draw between bookings.

Water Conservation

Low-flow showers and aerated taps in every villa we onboard, sub-metering where possible, and active leak detection. Garden beds are mulched and zoned so we do not water lawn and palm at the same rate.

Smart Home Tech

Smart thermostats and occupancy-aware AC schedules stop villas from cooling empty rooms between guests — the single biggest energy saving on most properties.

Plastic Reduction

Refillable glass water bottles in every villa, bulk-dispensed bath amenities, and a no-single-use-plastic rule on welcome packs. Where guests still bring plastic in, the team sorts it on departure.

Local Sourcing

Welcome-pack fruit, coffee, water and toiletries are sourced from Samui producers wherever the quality is there. Shorter supply chains, less packaging, money kept on the island.

Community Support

We participate in Bo Phut and Chaweng beach clean-ups and support a small set of local charities and schools. We do not list logos we have not actually backed.

Why it matters for owners

Real Work, Real Returns

Better Reviews & Repeat Guests

A well-tended garden and a clean, sorted bin area are two of the most visible signals of a well-run villa. Guests notice — and say so in reviews.

Lower Operating Costs

Mulched beds, drought-tolerant planting, on-site composting and recyclables sold to local buyers all reduce what your villa pays out each month.

Protects the Property

Regular palm trimming, leak detection and active waste handling prevent the slow damage — rot, pests, blocked drains — that turns into big bills.

Keeps Samui Worth Visiting

Less plastic on the beach, less waste in the dump, and a healthier island. Your villa is part of the place guests came to see — we keep it that way.
