FAQ
Questions we get asked a lot
Do you mark up tour prices?
No mark-up on partner tour prices. We sell at the same rate Siam Discoveries and our other operators charge directly. Our value is the coordination — one WhatsApp, vetted suppliers, one bill at the villa. If you find a cheaper public price, we'll match it.
Can I book before arrival, or only on-island?
Either. For peak-season dates (Dec 16 – Jan 10, Chinese New Year, Songkran, Full Moon weeks) we strongly recommend pre-booking — Ang Thong VIP boats and Santiburi tee times sell out. For most other things, on-arrival is fine.
What if weather cancels a boat trip?
You're refunded in full or rebooked to another day at no charge. Samui's monsoon weeks (mid-October to mid-December) occasionally cancel boat trips for safety. The operator's captain decides; we relay it the night before so you can plan around it.
Why book through MPS instead of Grab, Klook, or GetYourGuide?
Three reasons. One — same price, no booking fee. Two — Yankee and Jordi have thirteen years vetting these operators in person; we won't send you to a tour we wouldn't take ourselves. Three — when something goes sideways (wrong pickup time, weather change, group emergency), you have one human on WhatsApp who can fix it in minutes. Not a call centre.
What's your stance on elephant rides and animal shows?
Hard no. We don't book elephant rides, tiger photo encounters, dolphin shows, monkey performances, or any captive-animal entertainment. Samui has two excellent ethical elephant sanctuaries — Samui Elephant Sanctuary in Chaweng Noi and Samui Elephant Haven in the Bophut hills. Both are no-riding, no-shows, observation-only. We send everyone there.
How does tipping work?
Tipping isn't expected but always appreciated in Thailand. Rough guide: 100 THB per person for a half-day driver, 200 THB for a full day, 100 THB for an in-villa massage therapist, 10% on chef bills if you loved the food. Cash is best. We never add a service charge to your tour invoice.
