Local life still leads here: a working Thai village, Sunday walking street, Wat Napalan, and a growing cluster of boutique beach resorts. Very low-density, zero nightlife, exceptional sunsets.
The Beach
A seven-kilometre north-coast beach with shallow water, coconut palms and views across to Koh Phangan. Feels more like Samui twenty years ago.

Ong-Ang Thai, John's Garden, Fisherman's pier restaurants, and the Thursday Walking Street market.

Practical Guide
The bay faces north. Swimming is year-round (calmest gulf bay on Samui). Maenam is consistently the calmest bay during monsoon — a real selling point for shoulder-season bookings.
Seasonality. Peak demand runs December–March for families and digital-nomad long-stays. The slowest period is typically September — quietest month, but the beach itself stays usable — owners who price dynamically lift average occupancy materially through this window (we wrote about this in how dynamic pricing actually works on Samui).
Drive times. Samui Airport: 20 minutes. Chaweng: 25 minutes. Lamai: 40 minutes.
Day-to-day amenities. Nearest large supermarket: Tesco Lotus Maenam (in town) and Big C Bo Phut (8 min). Nearest A&E hospital: Thai International Hospital (12 min). Nearest international school: Panyadee British International School (12 min).
For owners. Maenam attracts longer-stay families, wellness retreats, return-visitor crowd; lower ADR than Bo Phut but better occupancy floor. Plot availability is lower — Maenam hillside still has plots, beachfront is mostly built but some remaining gaps.
