Hostaway vs Guesty: Which Channel Manager Wins for Samui?

Both sync your villa across Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo, Expedia and Agoda. Here is how they differ.

If you own a Samui villa and want to distribute it across Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo, Expedia and Agoda simultaneously without double-bookings, you need a channel manager. Two dominate the short-term rental world: Hostaway and Guesty. We run a fleet on Hostaway and we’ve pilot-tested Guesty for three months. Here is what you need to know.

Where Hostaway wins

  • Price predictability. A flat subscription makes margins easier to model. On a high-revenue villa, a 3% revenue-share with Guesty can quickly outrun Hostaway’s flat fee.
  • Speed to launch. We regularly onboard a new villa on Hostaway in 5–7 days including listing-content QA, calendar sync, and auto-messaging. Guesty wanted closer to 3 weeks when we piloted.
  • Automation depth for small fleets. The Hostaway recipe builder (tasks + messages + custom triggers) is genuinely excellent for a 10–50 property operator.
  • Community & public roadmap. Hostaway ships features at a faster public cadence and has an active user community.

Where Guesty wins

  • Enterprise reporting. If you’re running 100+ units across multiple entities, Guesty’s multi-account and multi-entity handling is more mature.
  • Native Agoda. Guesty’s Agoda connection is a direct native API; Hostaway routes through a partner. For Samui — where Agoda is a meaningful share of mid-range demand — this matters slightly.
  • Customer-facing polish. Guesty’s direct-booking site and guest portal feel more like a hotel PMS; Hostaway’s is more utilitarian.
  • Enterprise integrations. If you need a PMS-grade integration with revenue management (e.g. Duetto, Atomize), Guesty is further ahead.

Our take for Samui villa owners (2–20 villas)

Go with Hostaway. Flat pricing, faster onboarding, better automation builder for the 2–50 property range, and — on Samui specifically — we’ve shipped hundreds of owner calendars on it without incident. Once you pass ~100 units, revisit Guesty.

We provide Hostaway as part of our full-service contract at no extra fee to the owner. If you’re self-managing and want to run Hostaway yourself, we can also onboard and train you — just ask at consultation.
